Endodontics / Root Canal

Root Canal SystemRoot canal treatment is also called endodontic treatment. Root canal treatment is a highly skilled procedure.

If the blood or nerve supply of the tooth is infected through decay or injury then you’ll need root canal treatment. When the soft tissue inside the tooth becomes infected this can spread and lead to a dental abscess.

The aim of the treatment is to clean the entire root canal system and subsequently to fill it completely to prevent any further infection.

At praxisclinic believe that root canal treatments should be carried out with strict treatment protocols and with no pain to the patients. We utilize the latest and very efficient rotary as well as hand instruments, best of materials and the latest techniques for root canal cleaning, shaping and filling.

Many endodontic procedures are performed to relieve the pain of toothaches caused by pulp inflammation or infection. With modern techniques and anesthetics, most patients report that they are comfortable during the procedure.

AnestheticsA surgical operating microscope that magnifies upto 20 times may be used during the treatment and greatly enhances the success rate. At praxisclinic we use  a Carl Zeiss Operating Microscope for such procedures.

Also the latest techniques of  heat based fillings of root canals (Thermo plastic obturations) are performed for filling most of the cleaned and shaped root canal systems.

Most courses of treatment will involve one to two appointments to complete the entire root canal treatment procedure.

Usually after a root canal procedure it is advisable to restore the tooth adequately, so it can sufficiently withstand the biting forces. This is usually achieved by placing crowns on the teeth and placement of posts inside the canal system.
